A much needed Maddie update

Hello, faithful blog readers. I haven't forgotten about you. In fact, I think about the need to post more as each day passes. A lot has been going on since our baby girl arrived, specifically, having a baby girl to take care of!!

As you can imagine, she takes up most of our time. We are loving every second we share with Madelyn. She is such a sweetie! The learning curve for parenthood is pretty darn steep, as we have quickly discovered. We are just beginning to recognize and determine what her cries mean and what her facial expressions mean. As soon as we feel like we've "figured it out", she goes and changes it on us. :) Oh, what a trickster we have on our hands.

Maddie had her first pediatrician appointment last week and looks great! She weighed 8lbs 7oz, which shows that she is eating well and has passed her birth weight - hooray! Her weight is in the 50% while her height is in the 74%. That's our girl!! :)

I've had several people ask me if she is sleeping through the night. We're not there yet...but she has given us several 4-5 hour stretches! Of course last night, she gave us a few 2 hour stretches. Once again, she goes and changes things on us right when we think we have it all figured out.

Maddie has met so many family members and close friends over the past 2 1/2 weeks, all who have simply adored her. She's pretty adorable, I must admit. I promise to post pictures this week. In the meantime, just know that she continues to be absolutely perfect. :)

And p.s. don't listen to anyone who thinks your newborn can sleep "through the night" it'll just make you crazy. Enjoy each phase you're in... the sleep will come.. :)
