Back on December 1st, 2012, we had a party in honor of little Geoffrey turning one, and what a party it was! My friend Liz and I were pregnant at the same time, our due dates within days of each other. Our boys were born 2 days apart, with her son Dominic, making his appearance first. We decided it would be fun to throw them a party together, and it was a smashing success!
I had been searching for ideas on the internet for one year old birthday party ideas, when I came across a theme of a Winter ONEderland party - I mean, with his birthday landing in December, this couldn't be more perfect!! I ran with it, and thankfully, Liz was on board the whole time. We spent about a month putting the party details together, creating a wintry scene in our heads, and excited to execute it on party day. Decorations included all sorts of paper snowflakes hanging from ceilings and patio cords, windows and walls. We had the color scheme of red, blue and white (not patriotic, although it may seem - the red was more of an accent to all the blue and white!). For lunch, we offered a few delicious homemade soups and bread. We also had "snowman" peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, "snowman" jello jigglers, "snowflake" cheese cuts and salami, and veggies "dipped in snow" (ranch dressing). I made cupcakes with blue and white frosting, sprinkled with "sparkly frost."
We had a table with homemade play dough, that had glitter in it to make it sparkle. But our big "attraction" was hiding up in the backyard. We had SNOW for the kids to play with, in this winter wonderland! :) We had managed to keep this a complete secret from all party guests, leaving them gasping in wonder at the snowy scene when they arrived. It was awesome!!

| SNOW!! |

| The two older siblings, setting up the playdough table outside. Check out that sky - the weather was perfect for the party - the chances of us landing a cool, cloudy day for our "winter" themed party in SoCal, is pretty remarkable! | |

| Geoffrey and Dominic, loving the snow! |
| Snow fun! |
| The snow looked and almost felt like real snow, but you couldn't form anything out of it, so it wasn't wet and messy like the real thing. :) |
| Everyone was in shock that we actually had snow in SoCal! |

| Talking to the cupcake... |
| ..still talking... |
| I finally dabbed frosting on his lips to get him started. |
| That did the trick, although this is about as messy as he got (again, he was on the verge of getting sick, so wasn't 100%). |
| Dominic was way more interested in eating than Geoffrey. :) |
| Yummy cupcakes!! |
| Happy Birthday, little man!! |
| We had a ONEderful time celebrating YOU!!! |
