Maddie's first roller coaster ride

The start of August marked the expiration of our annual Disneyland passes. On our last day going, we decided to take Maddie on her first roller coaster ride. The ride is located in Toon Town, and is approximately 35 seconds long, so very much intended for kids. However, the height requirement for this ride is 36 inches, and the average child who is 36 inches is generally in the 3-year-old and up range. Not our girl! :) We decided to take our 2-year-old on a fast roller coaster, pretending she was "of age" because she is "of height." We waited for about 20 minutes in line, watching the roller coaster go "around and around in the sky" (that became her favorite catch phrase). Brant was talking it up and getting her really excited for the entirety of the wait.

Here they are, checking it out, while Brant asks Maddie if she wants to go on "the ride."

Someone was very excited about this...can you guess who?

Our turn is fast approaching! Maddie decided she was very excited to give it a try!

We told Maddie that when we go on "the ride," we put our hands up in the air - she's a fast learner.

This is the last picture I snapped, before we were seated. Maddie and Brant were in the front row, and I was in the cart right behind them. As soon as Brant sat Maddie down next to him, she went stiff and started to cry...loudly. He had to struggle to get her to bend her legs enough to sit down. I was watching the ride operator, who was eyeing Brant carefully, as if she was debating whether she should ask him to take his child off the ride because CLEARLY she did not want to be there. It was humorous and sad all at the same time....is that even possible? It is. :) Needless to say, she never put her hands up during the ride, but Brant said she was wide-eyed and silent during the entire thing. Afterward, she got off the ride with a huge smile, exclaiming, "Fun ride! Fun ride!" She continues to talk about it to this day, 2 months later!

We made a special stop at Mickey's House, since we were already in Toon Town, to see our favorite Mouse. Here is Maddie greeting Mickey, and so happy to see him.
What an amazing year of Disney magic this has been, full of unforgettable memories.
"See ya real soon, Mickey!" (Good thing we renewed our passes for another year!) ;)
C'mon. You didn't really think we could stay away for another year, did you?!
