We held to several of our family traditions on both sides, as usual, for Christmas this year. But we managed to mix things up just a bit as well. One example was our trip to Sunriver (see previous posts). Another example was on Christmas Eve, when we took my family (minus the kids) to a special movie theater experience to view The Hobbit! (The movie was in the morning, so we still held to tradition and went to church that evening. :) ) The movie was incredible, and watching it in comfortable seats with our feet up was even better.
Christmas morning brought so many wonderful traditions, including stockings/gifts, the reading of the Christmas story over a nice breakfast, hanging out all day as a family, and our Swedish ham ball dinner, ending it all with a movie before bedtime. Next year will bring opportunity for so many wonderfully new and unique traditions and experiences, but at the moment, as I go through these pictures, it is hard to imagine doing anything different. :)

| Reading new books. |
| Maddie, "helping" Grandpa Pat open up his stocking. |
| Poor Willy. Didn't know quite what to do in all of this, so he just plopped down in the middle of it all. I think Tucker was hiding under a bed. |
| Geoffrey loved the singing snowman. |
| Crazy Daddy. | | |
