Kabouterbos - a "Gnome's Wood"

Last Sunday afternoon, we hopped on our bicycles and set off for a local adventure.  Our destination?  Kabouterbos, which is a "Gnome's Wood" situated between Kampen and the town of Dronten.  The main attraction is a large pancake house, which sits among a great, gnome-themed playground.  There is also a gnome-themed woodland walk which was fun to explore.  We did not eat at the pancake house, but instead, packed a delicious picnic lunch of cheese, bread, fruit, meat and a few sweets, which we ate on our way out to the Kabouterbos.  The bike ride was a rough 35 minutes, and it was very pleasant, due to the sunny weather we've been having.

Geoffrey, trying his hand at cutting a slice of cheese for his lunch.

Who wants to finish eating, when there is a park to play at?

We made it!  And Maddie spotted the first gnome.
Yup.  I have a gnome counter-part.
There was a fantastic rope swing, which we enjoyed several times.

All kinds of fun things to climb on, hang from, swing off of, and jump on.  What a great park!
See what I mean?
Little gnome village charm, nestled up against the restaurant in the background.
Loving his first time in a ball pit.
She was sharing the same sentiments as her brother.
The front view of the pancake house.
Bunch of crazy gnomes I stumbled upon in the woods.

Both Maddie and Geoffrey loved our trip to the gnome's wood, and can't wait to go back.
They loved it so much, that nap time commenced the moment the bike started to move.  Thank goodness for the windshield, because it helped "stabilize" Geoffrey's head, as I cycled against the wind, for a hard ride home.  His weight would shift from one side of the handlebars to the other, in addition to the incredibly high wind gusts, making this particular ride a big challenge for me.  I think we made it home in about 45 minutes.
