California babes play in the rain

Having grown up in the Pacific Northwest, Brant and I are both quite familiar with a good dose of rain.  Our kids, however, have spent all, or most, of their childhood in sunny California, making rain a novelty for them.  We shall see how long before the novelty wears off! :)

In preparation for living in such a rainy climate, we outfitted our kids from top to bottom with rain gear.  Our new house has a small backyard, allowing us to open the door and let the kids freely tromp around.  The rain has added an especially exciting new element to this activity, and almost daily, they ask to go outside to specifically play in the rain.

Yes, a rain hat with the hood...totally necessary when the rain is pouring down sideways.
How sweet are they?

Lovin' the view.
We brought out the big umbrella, because Geoffrey started using Maddie's umbrella.
The following day, Maddie promptly urged us to go out and buy an umbrella for Geoffrey.
He was quite happy with that decision.
Even without the rain, umbrellas can be fun.
