If the title didn't give it away, we celebrated our baby girl's 6th birthday at the American Girl Cafe this year! With family being in town, and so many activities to keep us busy, we opted out of doing our big birthday party bash with friends, and kept it low-key (well, the event is not low-key at all, but my personal involvement was very minimal which, this year, was a must). We had lunch at the cafe, followed by a wonderful birthday shopping spree! If you don't know, when you come for lunch, you bring your American Girl Doll along with you, as your guest of honor. If you do not have a doll, the cafe provides one for you to dine with during your stay. Super cute!
The party guests were specifically all the girls in my family who were in town: Grandma Kris, Aunt Sarah, Ellie and baby Joy, along with myself and Maddie, of course! The boys stepped in for a moment, to catch a glimpse of what we would be doing, before leaving for a lunch of hot dogs from a stand on the corner. ;)

| One picture before the boys got the boot! |
| The pink in the room, along with the pretty decorations and individual high chairs for their dolls, was enough to make these two girly-girls swoon with glee. It was picture perfect! |
| Ellie and her doll, ready for our special lunch. |
| Grandma Kris and the two 6-year-olds. |
| This was so much fun for both of us -- Maddie was dining with my old doll, Molly, which is now her doll. I loved these dolls and books when I was younger, and before they became wildly popular. Being in the cafe/store was just too much fun for me, too! |
| Ellie, with her doll, and Sarah, with her live baby doll, Joy. |
| My beautiful baby niece with Grandma! |
| My pretty birthday girl! |
| This scene just melts me. |
| Our waiter was filled with funny kid jokes - these two loved it! |
| Umm, truly an amazing cake. Like I said, my involvement in this year's birthday party was very limited! |
| Make a wish! |
| This girl loves her grandma -- the feeling is mutual! |
| All of the girls. |
| Such a special memory for these two cousins! And they both managed to walk away with some very special treasures!! |
We celebrated Maddie's actual birthday a few days later, just around our home with Ellie, Joy and Aunt Sarah. The theme was, none other than, "Frozen." Anyone surprised? I was able to get away with doing next to nothing, aside from decorating - my sister even made the birthday cake! It was such a big help and I was so glad Maddie wasn't asking about any other party. After the previous 2 weeks of constant activity and celebration, I had just about shut down. We managed to make sure our sweet girl still had a wonderful celebration on her actual birthDAY!
| A few new chapter books for our avid reader - "Frozen," of course. |
| She loved her special Frozen accessories from Ellie (and Co.)! |
| The boys were happy to be invited to this birthday party. |
| BIG hugs! |
| Spreading the love and gratitude to everyone, whether they are ready for it, or not! |
| And she couldn't leave out her biggest fan. |
| Queen Elsa has re-entered the building. |
| A beautifully decorated cake, I didn't even have to think about. Thanks, Sarah! |
| Oh, now the wig and dress are in play. Queen Elsa does not fool around. Go big, or go home! |
| Cousins! (Notice that Elsa's hand has reappeared into our pictures once more!) |
| Our family loves our 6-year-old, Elsa and all, so very much!! |
Happy 6th Birthday, Madelyn Mae!!!!
