Mamafiets

I am the proud new owner of a Mamafiets - "Mama Bike."  I have let go of my red car for the year, to fully embrace the Dutch bicycling culture (well, and because there was no way we were going to be able to pack up the car into our carry-on bags).  My new wheels sport a small seat on the handlebars, another small seat behind mine, and even a sporty basket up front, windshield and saddlebags for the back.  Nice!  I actually am really enjoying it.  I feel like I fit in even more, now.  And I love the feeling of freedom the bike is giving me.  We were getting around this small town just fine with the stroller and walking, but now I feel like I can be 10x's more productive with my time during the day, whizzing around on a bike.  The only thing left for me to try out is loading groceries onto it.  That will happen after we move to our house next week.  At the moment, the market is way too close in walking distance to bother with the balancing act on a bike.  Baby steps, people.  Baby steps. :)

I love this one- Maddie was yelling happily as we flew down the hill, and she kept her arms out the whole way.  Both kids love the bike!

The one negative to riding a bike in this climate?  My hair.  Fun, right?

The Dutch know how to get around, that's for sure!!
