I'm an employed woman

First of all, if you are reading this and haven't checked my blog today, I posted some pictures of the campus earlier. You need to check it out!

So, if you can't tell by my post title - I got the job!! God is great. God is faithful. And God is never a minute late. I went in for the interview at the children's center at 4:30 today. It was hardly an interview, as the woman was immediately showing me around the facility and introducing me to her staff. Her very first question for me was, "Why are you not teaching in a classroom in a school? You know you are way over qualified for this position, right?" I explained my situation to her, and my desire to have a low-key, very part time job, with a new baby and all. She was thrilled to have me interested in the position. She was even more floored to hear about all of my experience working with children who have autism. She asked me if I would be interested in doing observations of some of the kids who might be on the spectrum. It was pretty flattering to be called upon in this professional way, only after meeting the woman 10 minutes prior! I feel very proud of myself; proud of the college degree I have, of the hard years of school I went through to obtain that degree, and of the 3 years of teaching I have under my belt.

The job is more than mindless. I will be assisting in the 1 year-old classroom, during lunchtime, on the playground and during nap time. I will also help the teacher gather materials and prepare for the next day's lessons. But you know what? It all sounds refreshing to me. I am happy to be doing work that doesn't require after school meetings or intense conversations with parents, or hours and hours of paperwork. I am staying true to my desire to be a devoted mother. Brant's schedule fits with my work schedule in such a way that we will never have to put Maddie into daycare. One of us will always be home with her. That warms my heart beyond belief. The children's center is less than a 1 minute walk from my house, so I will be local if I'm ever needed for my daughter's sake. I am so grateful.

Life is good, you know? God is good. All the time.
