Positives

Hello, faithful blog readers. I just re-read some of my most recent posts, and I must say, I am coming across with a strong negative tone. I guess I use this blog as my release after moments like yesterday's trip to the grocery store. I apologize for being so negative. I will try my best to write more about the positives of our experience.

For example, yesterday evening, we had a BBQ with all of our neighbors in our apartment block. We brought our own meat and a side to share, and had a great time. We spent the whole time talking with the family who is from Oregon. They have been here for 5 years and have all kinds of helpful advice for us, from how to get to NYC in the best possible way, and what to do around the Princeton area, to which IKEA not to visit (we found that out too late). We really had a nice time. Everyone is really friendly and welcoming. I am excited to get to know these people better. Today, we are going to venture over to the apartment of the guy who played on the drum line with Brant, and see if we can set up dinner with them sometime (per their invitation last week). It will be good to get going with some social activities, for both of us.

Another positive, is that I have a job interview tomorrow! I am interviewing at the Children's Center, which is a part of the seminary, and is located across the street from my apartment. I was in contact with the director of the program last Friday and sent her my resume. She was very impressed with my experiences and my teaching history, and said, "I think you would make a good fit with the teaching team at the Children's Center." My interview is at 4:30pm, and I feel pretty confident that it will go well. The job, if I understand it correctly, really is more like babysitting than anything else. It would be part-time and would include responsibilities like changing diapers, supervising on the playground, putting kids down for naps, etc. You know, that doesn't bother me one bit. It is a non-stress, non-thinking job, that is in walking distance, is part-time and has the same schedule as Brant's school (in other words, no evening or weekend commitments, and holidays off).

God is throwing all kinds of positives our way. We are recognizing them, I promise. It just becomes too easy to focus on the negatives in our situation. I will be better at relaying those positives to you. Have a great day!! :)

  1. Hey Jack. I just commented on your "Safeway" post too. I am so glad for ALL of your experiences. They will grow you up, grow your little family closer together, and ultimately grow you closer to God (if you allow it...which you will). :) You're doing awesome and I am thrilled to hear of how God is answering our prayers. Yay!!! I love you and can't wait to i-chat soon!
