I thought this day would never come...
We made it to Princeton, and we finally have our truck unloaded and piled up in our apartment. (Come on, did you really expect me to say that we were completely moved in?!)
We signed in and got our keys around noon and drove over to our place. Brant and I did the first walk through and both of us were more impressed than disappointed. This place feels a lot bigger than we expected. We are on the bottom floor, corner apartment, which is exactly what I was hoping for. The complexes are 2 story's with 8 units in them. There are probably at least 2 dozen of these complexes within the married student housing for seminary students. Each complex faces one other complex, and all of our patios enter out into a green lawn area, with trees and picnic tables, BBQ, and lots of outdoor kid toys. Fun! We found out that on Monday nights, our little community area has a BBQ together; bring your own meat to grill and a side to share, and hang out together. That sounds so great to both of us, let alone, it also allows us to know what we are doing for dinner on Monday nights! :)
Within 5 minutes of our arrival, we met a family nearby that is from Oregon. And then 2 other guys came out to help us unload the truck, and we found out one of them is from Oregon too! He and his wife have a 2 year old and a 3 month old. As we were talking with him, we come to find out that he went to school for a few semesters at UW. We told him that we had been living in Seattle and also went to school up there. We also shared with him that Brant had played in the UW marching band drum line for one season. Small world - they both played on the same drum line during the same season!! What in the world?! Crazy! It was really funny to watch their facial expressions change into this sort of "I-thought-you-looked-familiar" state. They both also recalled they had played a big prank as "rookies" on the drum line, to the upperclassman during their initiation. Anyway, he and his wife invited us over for dinner after we settle in a bit. So nice!
Last night, we ate dinner at a pub in downtown Princeton. For all of you Seattle folk, in an old fashioned way, this area reminds us slightly of Queen Anne Avenue, but east coast style. It is so pretty and cute, very ornate and appealing to the eye. We just scratched the surface of the area, even taking a mini walking tour through the main campus. Looking at a campus map, we barely touched the grounds of this magnificent school. I'm excited for many of you to come out and visit and see it all for yourself...I've got my calender sitting here with many available dates - let me know!! :)
So, to put all of your minds at ease, we made it and I am doing fine. I don't feel at home yet, but I feel the strong potential for that to happen sooner rather than later. I have a lot of work to do in order to get to that point, but that is expected. I still appreciate all of your thoughts, prayers, phone calls and comments on my blog. The support from all of you is what will make this process much more successful and doable.
We have a lot of work to do today, and more sightseeing around the town. As soon as I feel like my house is a bit more in order, I will post a plethora of pictures. You have my word...just not a date. :)
YAY!!!!!! I am so so SO happy for you guys! Seriously, I am beaming ove here!! :) God is so good, has provided, and will continue to provide for your little family. Keep trusting in HIm!

ReplyDeleteJackie I am so glad that you sound so amazingly happy! It sounds like your time in Princeton will be amazing now that you're there and getting settled. Yay for new friends!! Love you!
ReplyDeleteJackie, Hurray and all that. We have been talking on the phone so this is a bit redundant. I am writing because Mom posted last night and was up until after midnight trying to find her post. Apparently, she sent it somewhere into cyberspace. She left me a note (I went to be hours before) saying she was really frustrated. I want to make sure I get this right and then I will show her how to post.
ReplyDeleteI love you Dad
Hi Jackie! Ok, I now have it figured out (needed to create an account) and will help Mom with the process. Meanwhile, since all of this is posted the whole world knows how computer stupid your old Mom and Dad are :) I love you. You can expect something profound from Mom coming in soon. This may be one of the last posts from me for a long while so savor it!
ReplyDeleteDad
Hi Jackie, this is Dad for Mom. I am showing her how to do this. Bear with us, we are of an earlier generation.
