Oregon Getaway

Brant and I managed to escape for our own getaway, sans kids, for one night.  We found an amazing deal for the Oregon Garden Resort, which included a room, dinner for 2, a bottle of wine, admission into the gardens and a discount to a local winery.  The biggest deal for us?  No kids!!  This was the first time I had ever spent the night away from either of my children...and how old is Maddie?  Yes, nearly 4 years had passed since the last time I went to bed without tucking anyone else in beside myself.  Ahh.

We had a beautiful time.  The gardens are located in the beautiful countryside of Silverton.  We spent hours slowly meandering through the garden grounds, talking about all kinds of life...without pushing a stroller. :)  It was heavenly.  The weather was spectacular and the entire experience made us both feel nostalgic and yearning to live in Oregon again.  Again, when it's pretty in the Pacific NW, it can't be beat!!

Yes.  This is a drinking fountain.  Brant is drinking from a squirrel's mouth.  He tried to get me to drink out of the snail drinking fountain, but I just couldn't do it.

My love.
Oregon.
Our favorite - the Conifer Garden.  We really, really missed Oregon when we were in this garden.
Enjoying the Conifer Garden.
Loving the pink tree.
Not quite hobbit size...

Enjoyed our bottle of wine very much.
After dinner, we took the rest of the bottle of wine to the lounge, where they had a jazz duo playing live music. We enjoyed the music, more relaxed conversation, the fireplace, and no kids!!  Are you sensing a theme, here?

On our second day, we headed over to a camera store nearby and bought a new camera.  A really nice camera, to replace my lost one and to prepare for our upcoming move to Europe.   We had lunch at Starbucks, in order to charge our new camera battery for a good 1.5 hours, but were not successful.  The battery needed at least 5 hours to become charged.  We were excited to have a new camera, but bummed we couldn't put it to use right away.  Oh well.  What's one more day with a point and shoot? :)
On our second day, we went wine tasting.  We only went to one winery - Pudding River - and it was wonderful.
Neither of us had been wine tasting before, so this was truly a unique, informative and fun experience for both of us.
After the winery, we headed over to Silver Creek Falls.

More in love with this man every day I spend with him.
Brant, walking toward the waterfall.
There he is...the little speck, walking behind the majestic falls.
View from the bottom of the falls.
Such a refreshing spot, to be at the base of an incredible waterfall, surrounded by lush greenery, the smell of pine, and fresh water.  Ahh.  What a perfect getaway we had!!
