The Sunday that followed Brant's final comprehensive exam, I threw him a "surprise social" with friends, as a way to say, "Congratulations, and welcome back!!" Truly, the week prior, he told me that he felt like he had been a hermit for 2 months and "couldn't wait to get his social life back." That was my cue to make something happen! (I love myself a reason to plan an event!)
We went to our friends' house under the premise that they had invited us over for dinner. Indeed, we had dinner, but we were not the only ones. :) Brant, not being one who enjoys surprises too much, was delighted at the sight of friend after friend walking through the door, to give him a high-five or a hug and say, "Well done!"

| Kids were just ready to eat, but we made them wait while the adults talked a bit. |
| I asked Matt (in the middle) to give the blessing. He did so, and then some. |
| Talking about Brant, and probably about all the books he has on Bonhoeffer. :) |
| Still going. (The guy has a gift for being incredibly captivating and animated). |
| Talking about our upcoming change when we move to the Netherlands, along with Clay (pictured on the left) and his family. |
| Enjoying the company. |
| Who invited the crazies? Oh, right. |
| Ever and Geoffrey (Ever will be joining us in the Netherlands!) |
| A little pool time is always a treat. |
| Maddie loved it. |
| Yes, tired. But it is finally, FINALLY finished!! Way to go, Brant!! We are all so very proud of you!! |
